Personality
Daxter is a character who appears to be extremely shallow, lacking any real depth to his personality. He can easily be selfish and thoughtless and sometimes inattentive or insensitive with what he says or does. He often talks a lot, complains just as much if not more, and tries to avoid dangerous work more often than not. He's snarky and hot-tempered, and at times tactless and confrontational, constantly baiting people he doesn't get along with and not afraid to speak his mind to anyone. He's a little easily intimidated, but can only be temporarily cowed by threats when he mouths off to the wrong person and always seems to have an insult or witty comeback on-hand. There's very little he seems to care genuinely for and most people wish he'd permanently make himself scarce because of his almost compulsive obnoxiousness.

Beneath that is a side that only people he bonds with, who at least tolerate him, or who he respects might ever get to see. This side is more self-conscious than what he normally lets on, sensitive to how people respond to and treat him, and seeking acceptance as a person instead of a nuisance. Making himself seem cooler than he is also seems to be less of a priority, though it still is one. He is usually still iffy about going into dangerous situations, but loyal and willing to do what he can to help his friends or their causes. For them he can and does swallow his fear if needed so he can get what needs to be done done. He complains less and doesn't insult these people, even if some who fall under this category still consider him a bit of a pest...such as Damas and Sig. The times he tries to be tactful usually pertain to situations that those he cares about find extremely sensitive, and he will try to avoid them or steer others away from bringing them up as well.

How a person sees and treats Daxter is the biggest factor in how he responds to them. The people who see and treat him like a yappy annoyance get a yappy annoyance in return, with him being uppity and insulting as often as possible. The ones who give him a chance and manage to gain his respect or manage to befriend him get a toned-down version of this behavior directed at them and get to see his positive and hidden personality traits. People who fall into the very small category of people who like him but he's less than fond of don't see the more sensitive aspect of his personality, but at the same time he doesn't go out of his way to annoy or talk bad about them...usually. He may tease or poke fun at them sometimes still. He may also still put up a fuss if they do something he dislikes.

Regardless of the side someone is shown, Daxter is a fairly animated person whether he's human or Ottsel. His ears twitch based on his mood and he gestures a lot. His expression is also often a dead giveaway to his mood. As an Ottsel he sometimes can't sit still for too long and at the very least his tail is almost always moving a little. Similarly, his manner of speaking shifts a bit, with him being able to switch between words like "yer" and "your", "ya" and "you", or "an'" and "and" within the same sentence or a few sentences of each other. He also often uses nicknames when addressing people, though the nature of the name is directly related to something about the person and how he feels about them.

Despite his usual lack of courage in the face of danger, he is not really a coward and will go into danger even when scared and sometimes even takes the initiative on dangerous tasks. He can also be a bit of a daredevil and loves guns and explosions when he or his friends are using or causing them. He also loves fast vehicles and the thrill of victory. He also enjoys when some dangerous thing or person is taken down or put in their place, whether or not he was the one that did it. When on dangerous missions, Daxter is usually very quiet unless whining or complaining about something, and more alert than he is normally until the danger has passed. Even though he won't desert a friend, he may hide behind them in order to keep attention off of himself. But it's better to have him than not because he can be useful in a pinch and will pull his weight.

He's a decent racer, and knows basic vehicle upkeep, but is really more gifted in dismantling machinery than making anything. He's also great at video games when he can get his hands on them and really likes to party despite being overall lack of popularity. His favorite part of a party though is the alcohol and the opportunity to tell outlandish stories of his adventures to anyone who will listen for two seconds. There's just as likely to be some truth to the stories as they are to be completely false.

Even more than guns, vehicles, and booze, he's fond of hot girls...being a bit of a pervert. He's not above looking at cleavage when given the chance and like to flirt with girls sometimes whether he's seriously interested or not. He'll go to the trouble of impressing a pretty face through either words or actions...if he has to and is seriously interested in the lady in question, these may be hard or dangerous things. If actually in a relationship, he can be very tolerant of the quirks of his partner so long as it doesn't hurt anything. This is true even in the case of sickeningly sweet pet names or extremely girlish and/or domestic future plans. If he loves them he'll grin and bear it.

He also has an eye for handsome and stylish guys, though not as dating material if anyone were to bring it up. It's not a big deal for him to acknowledge a guy as having had good looks or fashion sense. While he's fairly sure he's not into guys, he's not a serious homophobe, and not too awkward about sharing a bed with or being seen naked around guys he knows. This just means that any freakouts he has regarding him and a male, regardless of sexuality, would probably have to include something that made him feel awkward or threatened. Checking him out for too long, attempts to flirt, being in his personal space, asking him out, or lingering touches would likely just be met with awkwardness. Any of the above and/or any kinds of touches in inappropriate places would very quickly lead to him freaking out.

Despite being able to freely switch between his human and Ottsel forms, Daxter often stays as an Ottsel around people he's less comfortable with and on missions that his human body might be more at risk in. With people it's largely because he's sensitive about his appearance despite the fact that he never says so, because his human form was made fun of or outright called ugly throughout his pre-Ottsel life. It's also because there are just times he prefers being an Ottsel now. But he does still appreciate just how much easier being human can make some things, because a lot of the world isn't an Ottsel-friendly place...and he's less likely to be skinned and/or eaten when he's not small and fuzzy.

Abilities/Additional Info
Daxter possesses average strength and is fast and flexible, but a bit shorter and slimmer than the average person on his world. He's a good climber and fairly agile, traits granted through experience in his Ottsel body. He's good at racing on Leaper Lizards, Zoomers, and desert vehicles, but only good with the basic upkeep of the latter two. Overall it's best he not handle the inner-workings of complicated machines unless it's supposed to be demolished.

Due to being part of the Dark Warrior Program, Daxter was exposed to Dark Eco and became an Ottsel. Being one-third the size of the average person and an animal is both a blessing and a curse. In Ottsel form his physical strength hasn't changed, but he lacks the weight to put behind that strength when needed and so moving some things is really hard for him. He can climb surfaces and crawl through spaces he wasn't able to as a human and jump several feet into the air, as well as run faster than humans on two or four legs. His hearing is more acute, but his sense of smell is about the same.

Because the Precursors are in reality Ottsels, he has picked up a few powers from his "blessing" as well. Firstly, he learned to swap between his human and Ottsel forms, something he can now do without a noticeable drain on his energy. He hasn't yet mastered transforming a full outfit, but can manage his gloves and goggles easily, and his pants if he's not in a rush and allowed to focus. He's resistant to small amounts of Light and Dark Eco passing through his system with them only making him more passive and aggressive respectively, though large amounts of Dark Eco could still either corrupt him over time or kill him outright. He's learned to create and channel two kinds of Eco somewhat proficiently. He could learn to produce and channel more types and expand his uses of the different Eco over time if he ever decided to sit down and apply himself to it, but it would take something actually making this something he could be motivated to do and periods of a month or more to become adequate.

He can create Blue Eco through friction, which he can then use to power machines or channel it himself to greatly increase his speed and reaction time for up to one minute. He could also introduce it into someone else's system for the same effect on them as it has on him. His strongest affinity is to Blue, because of his animated and energetic personality.

Over a period of three weeks, he can produce one usable unit of Green Eco to use is case of injuries, which he usually tries to store so he has multiples. He can shorten the creation time if he has to but, because Green is life energy, the faster he generates it the more energy it draws from him, which makes doing so dangerous and potentially life-threatening. One unit every three weeks is safe.

He knows some basic physical combat in the case of fighting smaller or less armored enemies, and so isn't entirely helpless in either form. But he is far from a brawler, and larger enemies can pose a problem for him if he's not properly equipped to handle them. The same is true when dealing with more experienced fighters than himself. He's also a decent shot with several mods on a Morph Gun: the Scatter Gun, Blaster, and Beam Reflexor most noticeably. Understandably, he handles the gun much easier as a human, but is still competent with it even as an Ottsel. He's able to hold and fire from someone's shoulder should they need him to for any reason, despite the fact that it is longer than he is tall in those situation.
